I think that this is the best Top Gear special yet, altough it went south in the end.

I’m surprised James’ Lotus didn’t break down (or at least we didn’t see it break down). I think the ‘U’ and ‘S’ in Lotus should be changed to ‘Unusually Solid’.

i cannot express how mad I am at the Argentinean peoples right now. Like really, having an “unhappy coïncidence” and misjugement doesn’t give you the rights to raise anger in a crowd and use it to try to kill peoples. Because the authorities told them that it was a totally unwanted coïncidence but they persisted to the point that they needed to abandon the cars for their lives. This should be unthinkable to do all of this and hurt peoples for a license plate. Even if it was a reminder of a lost war. Germans don’t try to kill you when you when you talk about the world wars (they’ve even metionned them and had a bit of fun about it in this episode, but no one were complaining). If the crew hadn’t decided to go cross-country they would have all died that night under the rocks thrown by 300 unnessecarily angry peoples. Does anyone find that normal ? I will never go in a land where peoples try to murder you in crowds because your a stranger that won a war with a police that thinks it’s your fault and leave the acts unpunished…

Totally, totally agree, by their standard, Porsche should be punished by US people because they sell sports car in US called the 911!
I just wanted to say to the people who mob that day, if you stand at the angle of Top Gear filming crew, which they have like 30-40 people’s passport visa to take care of, they need to bought airplane tickets, book hotels, rent shooting cars, preparing paperwork for Mustang 928 and Lotus, you will know that not everybody have the time like you guys, watching license plate all day and tried to guess what it means. And also there are people who point out that the H982 FKL is actually registered in 2001.
BBC and Top Gear should demand a open apology towards the Argentinian people.

Anybody remember in the first minutes of the special James said: “I have a thing with old cars, it’s hard to explain, but when I see an old car I immediately feel it if it’s a bad one. And with Hammond’s car I get that feeling.” Well if you see what happened on their trip, he was right… Kinda creepy :p

I really think that the licence plate was a little joke that went wrong. It would be naive to think that it was 100% a coincidence. I don’t agree with the reaction from the Argentine nationalists, but I struggle to believe the plate wasn’t planted.
