Turns out Toyota offered a non-turbo MKIV Supra called the SZ. I keep seeing them for 6 Grand.. worth it or not?

Powerful NA MK4 sounds like a fun build.

If you’re in the market for an NA Supra, maybe check out some Lexus SC300/Soarers. They have the same variant of the 2JZ I think, but are a bit classier, comfier and cheaper too!

Apparently no one in this thread knows the difference between the turbo Supra and the non turbo Supra. They do not use the same engine. The N/A Supra is not a turbo Supra without the turbos. There is a reason they have different engine codes. The turbo Supra uses the 2JZ-GTE while the N/A Supra uses the 2JZ-GE. There is a difference between those two engines beyond the turbochargers. The GTE has better pistons, rods, and bearings. The GTE also has a better intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and head gaskets.

You can’t just strap a turbo on the GE and expect the same results as the GTE with a custom turbo setup. There’s a reason the N/A Supras are so cheap. It’s sad that the Mustang guy has to come and educate the JDM guys on their own cars.

I’d take a Lexus IS300 over an N/A supra. Same engine for a lower price.
