Umm... So I found a Subaru SVX for sale with 144k miles... Is there a reason why these are rare or are they pretty good cars...?

Hmm… Well, plan B… A 2002 WRX for $4995… I am only concerned about the 200k miles…

This. It is auto only and uses the 4EAT. Which my Impreza has and a solenoid went and the center diff was burned up as a result. $1k repair if it gets as bad as mine was. The engine in the SVX is sweet though, 3.3l flat 6. I was thinking of putting it in an Impreza.

they’re pretty good, they’re only rare because of “image”

I can’t really help since I have never driven any cars apart from a sierra but a wrx/turbo legacy with somewhat low miles might be a good choice

The SVX was Subaru’s attempt to enter the once-popular luxury/performance car category. The prototype was designed by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign. Subaru produced around 25,000 SVXs from 1992 through 1997 (about 14,000 of these were imported to the United States).

The most striking feature of the car is the windows. The window design of the SVX was created with the goal of good aerodynamics, unobstructed visibility, and a distinctive appearance. The car sold for between $28,000 and $35,000. On the downside…because of its rarity, parts are relatively expensive. And every car has its own set of predictable problems. The SVX has three main faults: transmission failure, wheel bearing failure, and warped rotors. The rotor problems are caused by the sheer weight of the SVX—3,600 pounds. Subaru had never made such a heavy car and did not equip them with rotors to match. The transmission and wheel bearings fail prematurely but corrections can be made to extend their life. These and other issues are addressed in the FAQ section of this website.

You wouldn’t by chance know the type of front bumper and headlight modifications that are on this SVX.
I also know this was 4 years ago, but that looks like the EXACT look i want for mine.

I don’t really know much about Subarus

What do you need in your next car?

I need something that will be good in winter, super reliable, get good mpg, and get me through college, but I want something that is still somewhat unique and cool like my Probe was… At this point, I am looking at a Lexus Is300
