I’ve got 63k on my Porsche Boxster, yet to have one problem with it other than it eats tires. But that’s user error lol
LETS JUST ALL GET THIS STRAIGHT: Overrated does not mean they are bad. Just because a car is overrated in your country does not mean its bad. Like I said in a previous comment I have lots of experience with VW so I know how they are when it comes to reliability and quality. They are good and they are not overpriced. For example, compare the Volkswagen Polo to the Opel Corsa. I have driven both and when it comes to build quality at first sight you don’t really see a difference. So where’s the price difference then? Why is the Polo more expensive? Well, because VW spends more money on reasearch than Opel. The Polo’s steering is balanced, responsive, and precise. The Opel’s steering is nervous and unbalanced. And that’s why people pay more for a VW, because they are just more pleasant to be in. That’s why the Golf is one of the best selling cars of all time. That and the low maintenance costs. Which is also the reason why I own one. I have never had to take my car to the garage because something was broken. Well yeah, once, but that was because I hadn’t thigthened a bolt correctly and it came loose causing engine damage. But that was my fault and not due to bad build quality.
So yes, in your country they may be praised like if they are able to defy the laws of physics, which they obviously can’t. But German cars are reliable and well built.
My dad says that older Mercs drove better and had better quality than new Mercs
I am not saying that VWs are bad, but they are quite dull and they are not cheap. For the same money, instead of buying a Jetta, why don’t you invest you money on a Mazda 3 or Subaru Impreza? Mazdas are sexy, they have nice looking exterior and interior and their skyactiv NA engines are really good. Subaru have boxer engine and rally-bred AWD systems and Eyesight system(best driver-aid system). VW on the other hand have none of these.
I don’t know where you got that idea but in Europe, VAG cars are actually quite reliable and dependable. Even skodas and seats are starting to apear more end more in my country and thats because they’re just good cars for the money. They aren’t the fastest cars around or the most exciting ones but that’s what a VW is all about, a good car that never fails you and that isn’t that expensive to buy and maintain. My parents only buy VW’s and even me and my brother have VW’s of our own. In total in the family there are 4 drivers and 5 VW’s (we are trying to sell one) and all of us love the brand and the cars they make
VWs aren’t that reliable. My friend has Passat CC, he is always on service. Mostly Axle and Air conditioning. + Fuel pump.
