What engines can you think of that had a very low specific output for the time they were produced? I'm thinking engines like the Iron Duke...

I think mostly VW concern made these type of engines. Golf III GTI was a bad joke with its 2.0 114 HP engine, also my old SEAT Ibiza had a 1.4 60 HP engine and it did 0-100 km/h in 15 seconds. Ridiculous, vut at least the MPG was great and engine was reliable.

1976 Ford Mustang II: the 4 cyl only put 92 hp but the hefty 302 V8 put out a whopping 134hp with a 0-60 in an astonishing 9.8 sec. and a quarter mile in a sweltering 17.5 sec. Good job Ford

The newest viper. With the largest production engine in the world I have no clue why it’s making just 600 something bhp with smaller motors making more.
