McLaren F1 GTR (1995) top speed: 240mph. That's faster than some hypercars today.
The Bugatti Veyron then emerged in 2005. #ctoriginalmeme

Isn’t a hyper car a car that is capable of running on electricity as well as gas and being super fast?

Nah, there really is no definition. It’s just the step above supercar. Like supercar is above sports car

I’d actually go so far as to say that the F40 is the original “hypercar.” It was the first car ever to break 200mph, it was the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car ever at the time I think, and it had absolutely no luxuries, no driver aids, heck it didn’t even have door handles (strings, technically). That’s probably why it was lightning fast and scary as hell to drive. Plus, just look
at it! First true “hypercar,” IMO.

I consider the F40 a supercar tho. Cuz to me a hypercar is a car capable of over 210mph The F40 is about the same level as a Huracan or a 650S, as their top speed is about 201-204mph , but still legendary and is one of my favorite cars of all time.

The difference is that the Bugatti Veyron is a road legal production car, the F1 GTR is not

The BMW V12 also made it the worlds fastest N/A production vehicle.
And the original hypercar is the F40, thw F1 is the second.

And everyone forgot the real hypercar that should take the credit is the mighty TVR Cerbera Speed Twelve.

I think it was more considered a hypercar cause it broke the 1,000 hp mark. Seems like that’s where most hypercars are at.
