ej20, more reliable than the ej25 but the same fun. Low centre of mass, good torque for a 2.0 and a really nice soundtrack to boot.

What about the 4G63? Especially the version in the Evo 8 MR. 400bhp from a 2 litre, yes it’s turbo but that’s staggering thinking that is a factory car tune.

I know that most people don’t love Peugeot but i think engine informacije new 308 gti is great 270hp from 1.6. I don’t know how reliable it is.

Do bike engines count?
Because in that case I would go for the 1300cc hayabusa engine. Highly overdemensioned, you could fit a turbo and nitrous and get over 500hp out of a stock engine. No need to replace the pistons, valves,…etc.
