Try Not To Cry As A Ford RS200 Eats Some Hay Bales
So many cars have navigated the famous Goodwood hillclimb unscathed over the years, but occasionally it can go badly wrong – that was the case for this Ford RS200 Evo 2 run this year
Driving a classic, iconic car up the Goodwood hillclimb at the Festival of Speed must be a deeply exciting but equally terrifying experience. If it goes wrong, chances are it’ll not only be spectacular but also quite expensive.
That doesn’t stop most drivers from heroically going full pelt and wowing the crowds, but sometimes that can lead to crashes. It didn’t even take a day for someone to shunt at the 2017 FOS, with rallycross legend Pat Doran crashing a 1986 Ford RS200 Evo 2 rally car.
He got it wrong on the entry to Molecomb corner, looked to have corrected it, but then drifted into the barriers. Doran was OK, and even bowed to the crowds, but the same couldn’t be said for the car.
Lie down, try not to cry…
