So, how much HP do you need to do simple drifting?
Me and my friend had an argument about drifting with low-powered cars. My friend said that you need at least 160bhp to drift. I told him that you can drift with a car that has under 100bhp, but he said that it’s impossible. I mean you can just clutch-kick and go.. please tell this to my friend.

You can clutch kick and go watch your grip overpower your 100hp dramatically as you burn your clutch and bring your revs down, if that’s what you’re asking. There’s so much to be done to the car so the 100hp thing can drift. If anything Im fairly certain no stock car that is at 100hp can drift. And we aren’t talking rain or snow or something sub 60kph, since that kindergarden stuff isn’t drifting.

This is how we do it in Poland 😂

This is by no means professional drifting, but you asked for simple way to go sideways so… Keep in mind this car has 86hp
lol you can drift 90 hp if you want. just lose every bit of weight and beat the crap out of it.
weight plays a part in this aswell
With food trays… Like 5 hp
As long as you can brake the tiers free your good to go
Power isn’t everything. Think about drifting on ice; there’s less traction for the wheels to “grab on to”, so it’s really easy to kick the rear end out. for a low powered car, you basically just need some skinny, junk tires for the back and some decent tires for the front and you should be good. The difference in grip could help. I will say an extremely underwhelming number of 50hp, which is probably extremely off.
It mainly depends on tired weight and driver ability
120hp on a good day. Coilover inserts and bilstein shocks, 13” rear tires. Everything else is bone stock. Its one hell of a drift machine!!
