What's everyone's opinions on car bras? Functionality, not looks.

I put a lot of mileage on my Focus, and as a result have some paint chips. Those will all be gone soon, as it’s getting a new front end. Should I put a bra on it, when I do long highway trips? Will it scuff the paint, or do any other damage?

Driven to Drive 1

I’d buy one if I drove on the highway a lot. Rock chips are annoying…

I think they’re good for long distance drives, other than that I don’t like them.

Functionality, nah, easily beaten by getting clear wrap for your car and just putting that on

But I wouldn’t want to keep it on all the time, as it doesnt look good. Would get too expensive.

I don’t like them because they tend to rub off the clearcoat.

Good coat of wax should prevent that for the short term.

If you’re gonna cover it up, what difference does it make if you were to get paint chips instead? Also, over time the paint on the car will slowly fade and the paint under the bra will not, leading to uneven colors

It would only be on while doing long highway trips. Therefore, not having chips matters. Also, only occasionally having it on a black shouldn’t cause noticeable paint fade.

Be careful, as tiny stones, sand, or other abrasive objects could get caught between your car and the bra, resulting in scratched paint

Yeah, always have to be careful when coming into conact with the paint.

Why not just get the paint on clear bras?

I’d prefer the ability to remove it when I don’t want it on, as I don’t like the look of them.

I highly recommend 3M version of the bra, its a clear paint protection, hardly noticeable, protect the paint, and peels off like plasti-dip. If ur not one for the “bra”, try this. If not, it works, just looks arent in ur favor

I’m not a fan of the sticker bras. At least with this style, I can put it on and off as I please.

Check out Aebros Dickson. He just posted a bunch of photos of it. It’s what gave me the idea for the bra.
