10 Worst Supercars Ever
1. Weber Faster One
From a swiss watch maker, the Weber Faster One promises over 900 hp and over 200 mph. Of course, that hasn’t happened yet. It looks like a nightmarish Tim Burton interpretation of a BMW Z4. The horror!
2. Delorean DMC-12
Now I love the Delorean, but with the looks of a supercar but the performance of an old metro. Catalytic converted models took 10 seconds to crack 60mph. And it couldn’t fly.
3. Vector M12
Pretty much a rebadged Diablo, it had the build quality of a Glastonbury tent. Also denounced by Mr. Clarkson as “the worst car in the entire world”.
4. Caparo T1
The Caparo T1 is insanely quick and it looks like a mad open wheel car, so what’s the issue? Problem is, most of the time it’s not working, preferring to be broken or substantially on fire. Or both.
5. Panther 6
This 6-wheeled monstrosity was inspired by the Tyrrell P34. The Panther had an 8.2-litre twin-turbo V8 and a claimed top speed in excess of 200mph, a claim never substantiated. Difficult to understand why.
6. Ferrari 400
The Ferrari 400, not to be confused with the amazing Ferrari 400 Superamerica of the 50’s, the 400 was a bog-awful pretend GT and the first Ferrari with an automatic box. Luckily, it never went on sale in America.
7. Aston Martin Virage
Conceived in the booming mid-80s but released in the depression of the early 1990s, the Virage was average to drive, shoddily built and, despite costing £120,000 (over or $220k in today’s money or £200k) had headlights borrowed from an Audi 200.
8. Mitsuoka Orochi
Even though James May raved about this, it was inspired by the Honda NSX but nowhere near as fast, attractive or acceptable. The Orochi gives 230bhp and resembles an aroused bottom feeder trying to suppress wind.
9. Lamborghini Jalpa
Not an awful car in its own right, but suffered from its showing as the useable, affordable alternative to the Countach. That’s like trying to make a living as a friendly, vegetarian mako shark.
10. Jaguar XJ220
Now hear me out on this one, the XJ220 is a beast of a car and I’ve seen one in real life, but there is one issue. Customers put down deposits for a 4WD V12 hypercar. They ended up with a RWD V6. Safe to say, some were a bit peeved about this.
I hope you liked this countdown in no specific order, if you disagree with any of my picks (which I would think you will) tell me what you think is the worst supercar in the world!
Comments
“Clarkson said it’s the worst car in the world” if i could just get 1€ for every time he’s said that…
True true :)
i think the jag is one of the best to be honest
I wanted to say Jag-obsessed Brits incoming
I guess you guys win this round
I agree. It was ahead of it’s time. Reading V6 and RWD reminds me instantly on the new Ford GT, which is, we all agree with this, absolutely bonkers.
the mitsuoka orochi would be A FKIN LOT more powerful if japan didnt have the 280hp limit at the time
Maybe, so why it have 230hp, not 280?
It is powered by a truck engine and really heavy
Very good article..i didnt know most of these cars..thanks!
“It looks like an aroused bottom feeder trying to suppress wind” You sir, are a comedic genius!
He could become a better Clarkson than Evans will ever be.
It took me a while to come up with that one :)
I think the zenvo is pretty bad also. It didn’t look terrible but it spent more time on fire than not
Is the Delorean considered a super car, it’s not that fast it’s just luxurious, maybe.
I guess Japla kinda sounds like jalopy
The Ferrari, Lambo, and Jag are all cars on this list I like for sure. Italia motorsport made a video showing why it can be liked but also why people hated it. It doesn’t always have to be a supercar, I like more affordable performance (also hinting at the Jalpa), anyone else agree (Mazda, Ford, and Mini fans I know you’re listening B3)
Italia motorsport made a video on the Ferrari 400 (Mondeo). I forgot to say that.
What’s funny is that at the end of the 400 model lineage’s life in 1989, Ferrari put into service one of the most legendary automatics of all time- or really, a semi-automatic dual-clutch used in that season’s 640 F1 car. Ferrari’s experimentation with what people on this site consider unpure transmissions actually paid off in the long run.
