#ChallengeTime CTzens: You are given a Geo Metro and a budget of 5000 US Dollars, your goal is to turn the Metro into a high speed Time Attack car! Rules Below.
Rules :
Engine Swaps are allowed.
Forced induction is allowed.
Aerodynamic Mods are allowed.
Car must be road legal in the USA.
The Geo Metro must be kept FWD.
The track is Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
(The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR holds the current production car lap record with 1:28.65.)

Put this Jaguar AJ-26S supercharged 4.0 V8 in it, don’t know how, but the shop dog will help. Make some sick aersodymanic mods, only hard part is how to keep it fwd..:
Swap the motor from a evo and upgrade it till you run out of money should be proficient enough
Like a true young Australian, I would install a 5000 dollar stereo and have the sub woofers propel me through the track while supplying sick beats. Who needs physics anyway?
2jz gte engine, coilovers, rims, tires, custom exhaust, manifold, and tune. Boom under 5k
Assuming the metro comes with the original 1.0L 3cyl, do the following (no prices since I’m not american but I do own and I’m fan of this model):
For forced induction you can go with the G13 dual cam 16V with G16 pistons from the Vitara or use Honda pistons. Source a Swift Gti and a Vitara Tracker for that.
For N/A use the G16 single cam but 16valve, or go 8valve but forced induction using rods from Honda.
There is a third option, go 1.8L sourcing a Gran Vitara 4 door engine, N/A or Turbo applicable.
All this configurations can use the 5 speed transmission from the Gti, engine mounts are swappable between the Swift, Cultus and Metro and all of them will be FWD.
Many Honda and Mazda parts are surprisingly bolt on (weirdly 😐).
And since the Metro is already light, beating that time won’t be a problem.
And since it must be road legal in the U.S. you can fo F.I. or Carbureted using Weber TB or normal 32/36 (only on G13 and G16 models, since the intake manifolds are available as bolt on for carbs, rare but they do exists).
All the emissions stuff is swapable from one car to another so…sleeper formula there.

And yes, all 3 engines with the gti box fit nicely. Also you can use the Esteem 1.6 gearbox for more speed since the Gti’s for acceleration.

Oh, forgot, upgrade from 13” to 14 or 15” inch wheels, source from a Suzuki Forensa (or Chevrolet Optra, raincheck the Suzuki model I don’t recall the exact name), just machine the center of the wheels 1.5 mm and they fit exactly. And since the drag coeffincient of the Metro is the same as the gti, is already good enough, source a gti body kit, a gti dual row radiator, some coil overs, good exhaust, and you are still 2k below your given amount.
Oh, forgot, strip the back seat and reinforce the chasis, since there will be a lot of flexing.
And I still have around 1.5K left to buy ice cream 😂😂😂😂
