Cockpit view vs 3rd person view.
We all played at least one video game that featured racing, but in the world we live in,we see it in different perspectives, even in games. Here are the 2 most popular camera angles along with their advantages.
Cockpit view
In this view,it places you on the driver’s seat of the car you’re driving virtually. This camera angle/perspective may help in making those strong feelings, creating faster solutions when it comes to this view. You can also see what’s happening on front of your car, faster than being on 3rd person view.
3rd person view
In this perspective, your camera is placed a few meters away from your car.In this view, you can prevent accidents more often than being in cockpit view,it helps you see what’s happening on your blind spot.Is he coming for my booty? No?Great!
My conclusion
In cockpit view, you’ll be able to react quickly due to the feeling while in 3rd person perspective, tou’ll be able to prevent accidents very often so…I’ve decided.
Personally,I’d recommend the 3rd person perspective but,it all goes down to personal preference. What’s your side?cockpit or 3rd person? Why?

I’ve always liked the hood camera. It gives the feeling of first person but it keeps the dashboard and interior out of the way so I have a larger field of view
Sims: Cockpit (if the in-game wheel can be hidden), dash if it can’t, and hood if there isn’t a dash cam.
Arcades: Bumper or 3rd-person.
I generally go with the “front bumper” type of camera view (looks like the camera was mounted on the front of the car) for racing simulator type games. I feel it gives me the best view of where the car is going and there is nothing in my view to distract me from anything but driving my best on the track.
Any simulator I play in cockpit view. It’s impossible to control a car in 3rd person view
But arcade games 3rd person view, because the car control isn’t as critical point of those games
I can’t use 3rd person in Forza and GT, feels unnatural to me
When I played NFS Shift 2,cockpit was always my choice because I can’t win if I used 3rd person view…kinda weird huh?😂😂
on Shift 2 I liked the cockpit + helmet, dampened the sound a little, camera went to the apex, and the internal frame of the helmet.
I hate interrior views when you can’t adjust it. Mainly Forza, most the interrior views are looking at the steering wheel more than where I’m driving.
I like to change between 3rd person and cockpit sometimes in races. One to fully immerse in the race, another to hear that sweet engine/exhaust note without any interior muffle…
simulation games is always cockpit, unless i want to hoon.
in non/simulation games it always is 3rd person and bumper.
