What a load of tosh they quoted me 600 pounds for a modified 1.4 Honda Jazz ,and I have 8 year Ncb!!
Thats how they tell you to buy something decent.
My 3.0i BMW Z4 isn’t too bad, £500 a year. 25 and 8 years ncd
Yea my2003 350z is only $100 (US) a month to insure.
I pay, 1700 euros annually while my parents would pay about 800 if they owned it and my car is not nearly as fast as most of those on the list
£450 to insure a Gt86, on what f-cking planet mate
I get quoted £525 on a modified Mustang GT with a stonking big V8 engine. The secret? Over 25 and 5+ years NCD. Insurance rates drop like a stone.
Planet Sky!! We’ve got customers on that price. These are based on genuine quotes under our Performance & Modified Cars Schemes.
I have issues with this. It was $1,370 ( £988) to insure my FR-S at 26 with a clean record. Granted, insurance is hellaciously expensive around Washington DC. Oddly, the shiny, new WRX I bought after totaling the FR-S costs $1,130 ( £815). Apparently two more doors and two years older completely counters totaling a car.
R32 with cheap insurance? not in ‘Murica is it?
Any chance you could insure my MX5 for less than £5000?
It’s not called Phil is it?? (That would double the quote!!)
Or anything you can insure under a classic car insurance, as long as you have a daily driver and are older than 25. And you’d be surprised which cars are seen as classics now.
^ This. My insurance as a 25 year old, with 3 years NCB on a 6.0l 300+bhp Jag XJR-s was the princely sum of £190. No limited mileage, an agreed value in place (well worth doing with any classic) and I don’t think they were even that bothered about the NCB as they never asked for the paperwork.
It’s a trade-off - a classic will cost you more to maintain and obviously in my case fuel was a major expense, but if it’s a choice between putting a large chunk of money in the insurers pocket then running a crap car on a tight budget, or paying less on insurance and spending more maintaining and running a car you love, then it’s no contest for me!
I was insured with sky for a few years with several cars, 2 at policies at one point. Had two non fault accidents in a company car, full police reports of exactly who was to blame, still have 7 years no claims, no points on my licence. When it came time to renew they didn’t want to know, stuck my price up and put no effort into keeping me. Phoned up Adrian Flux, got a cheaper quote with better cover and actually looked into the claims to see there was nothing i could do to avoid them so pretty much didn’t even care about them. Well they have lost out 4 policies from me because of the way they acted! Avoid!
Sorry to hear that Jonathan. It’s always awkward when there are unsettled claims at the time of renewal, even when the report would indicate they are likely to be non-fault, as the insurance company offer terms based on the worse case scenario - that being that they may not be settled totally non-fault and therefore the premium they offer is based on a reduced NCB discount until totally settled - hence the increase in quote. Personally, it would make life a lot easier for us if there was some kind of leniency in these cases. We are the middle-man between the insurance companies and you guys and we always try and place customers onto one of our modified or performance car insurance schemes, but there are times when we cannot place some customers. We are constantly improving and expanding our selection of available schemes to reduce situations like yours.
