gps reads 10 km/h less than speedo on my 1.2 tsi skoda fabia
My old ZX6R would read 95-100mph while getting passed on the interstate. Never got a chance to compare it to GPS.
Bikes are way optomistic. my Gladius read about 25% high. My FZ1 only reads about 10% high.
The main difference will be that GPS only gives us an average speed over a short distance and can lag by a few seconds,so if we’re changing our speed a lot in a short period of time,we could be over the speed limit when we don’t want to be.This is the same with all modern sat navs if they’re portable, fixed sat navs (OEM or after market) use the vehicle’s speed pulse signal to update instantly in real time, the same as the vehicles speedometer.
My celica read like 6% low because it had 16s on it. My FZ1 reads like 10% high.

Summer tyres: 98 kph GPS/100 kph speedo
Winter tyres: 93 kph GPS/100 kph speedo
Exactly the same speed, although my speedo is about 2km/h fast, so the GPS is wrong as well
I’ve noticed mine is off from the “you’re going ___ miles an hour” radar displays at the side of the road
my outback always showed 10% more and my celica is spot on
