The Ontario Government wants to put a ban on aftermarket parts in Ontario and we need to stop them

Please, even if you aren’t from Ontario, as car enthusiasts we need to stick together to face problems like this.

The law that is apparently going to be put in place is called the “OEM or Illegal” law

I hope you guys don’t end up with this woman leading the province… This is just totally crazy and doesn’t even make sense because I’m prettypretty sure modifying your car (correctly) makes it perform better and handle better and those are both good things and in no way unsafe. If she wants to make cars safer in Ontario she just has to make it a law to have winter tires for winter like in Quebec because it’s a hugggeee plus for safety.

Nick-named “Ontarible” for a reason, I personally hate that province and now I have another reason to never want to move there.

So what about certain parts that are safer/more reliable than OEM parts? Some OEM parts are definitely worse than aftermarket, like when manufacturers put cheap plastic parts so you use something better to prevent a break down?

People! Take the time to actually learn about this! This isn’t a sinister law change it a bill. This is a slight modification to the requirements of the Ontario Safety Standards certificate that is done when you need to certify a vehicle for the road. The only changes that will affect “enthusiasts” is you cannot run an hid kit in a halogen housing headlight and you cannot run wheel spacers. Again, this is only
To have the vehicle certified. Once done and registered, you’re welcome to modify your car however you wants within the boundaries of the (unchanged) highway traffic act. Stop being sheep and take the time to educate yourselves before blindly supporting something.

There’s literally no source anywhere that says this is happening, the only place I’ve seen the words “oem or illegal” is on petitions. They simply updated the MTO regulations for 2016 and all the rules are the same as before. Don’t believe everything you read.
