According to most , this was the most anticipated and important concept car launch at Frankfurt 2011 IAA. The Ford Evos Concept has been circulated around the globe numerous times thanks to its branching design principles that have the potential to catapult Ford into the next decade with severe force and popularity. So it was no surprise then that the Hall at the time of the Ford launch was rammed full of journalists. As a result, we struggled to get completely "people-free" images but suffice to say that you can determine exactly what the Evos is about.

The brand new Mini Cooper Coupe certainly turned heads yesterday when it debuted at Frankfurt Motor Show 2011. An homage back to 1966's Mini Marcos coupe, this strictly two-seater model certainly has the flare and simplicity to welcome it into Mini's popular current range.

Keeping in line with the recently updated Bentley Continental GT coupe , the folks over in Crewe have decided to give the GTC a much needed refresh to make sure it doesn't remain outdated.

As well as demonstrating future direction with the i3 and i8 Concepts, BMW finally released the 2012 BMW M5 in all its glory. And they had the car zooming around on their purpose-built indoor track complete with live sounds of their powerplant.

Picture an indoor race-track built high up off the ground and running all the way around an exhibition hall, and you'll be on your way to envisaging the huge launch arena that BMW managed to build this week in Frankfurt. The huge German manufacturer were given prime-time to kick off the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show Press Day and they managed to impress with the release of many cars but most notably, the i3 and i8 Concept Cars.

Another stand that impressed me - so much I buzzed around it for a good half an hour after the official press conference - was Lotus . Whilst one of the main attractions of the stand was Jake Humphrey from BBC F1 fame doing an interview with various Lotus executives, the cars themselves blew me away and made me realise just how far Lotus has come in the past decade.

One of the best launches at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in my humble opinion was the unveiling that Land Rover put on for the extremely large crowd of journalists yesterday in Hall 5. Many images surfaced over the past few weeks of a concept vehicle designed to put the popular but dated Defender edition back into production and everyone finally managed to feast their eyes on real-life prototypes at the Show.

At 1.45pm on an already tiring Frankfurt Motor Show day , I headed to the Kia booth and was pleasantly surprised to see the Kia GT concept and to hear that this has no longer become a concept but is planned to head to the production lines in South Korea in 2013.

Singapore-based billionaire Peter Lim has completed a substantial investment in McLaren Automotive , the supercar manufacturer based in the London suburb of Woking. Forbes states that Lim derives his fortune from having a 5% share of palm oil giant Wilmar International.
